Mediation Services

D

ivorce mediation provides a structured, neutral process to help separating couples resolve disputes, make important decisions, and reach mutually acceptable agreements without the expense and stress of court proceedings. The goal is to facilitate productive conversations, reduce conflict, and help both parties move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

Issues Commonly Addressed in Mediation

MEDIATION CAN ASSIST COUPLES WITH:

  • Division of assets and debts

  • Parenting plans and parenting schedules

  • Child support

  • Spousal support

  • Communication and co-parenting arrangements

  • Separation agreements

  • Family home and property matters

  • Future decision-making and conflict resolution

The mediator serves as a neutral facilitator and does not make decisions for either party or provide legal advice.

Mediation Process

M

ost couples participate in 4–8 mediation sessions, depending on the complexity of the issues involved and the level of agreement between the parties.

Sessions are typically 90–120 minutes in length, allowing sufficient time to address meaningful issues while maintaining productive dialogue.

For couples seeking a more accelerated process, half-day and full-day mediation intensives may also be available. These extended formats can often help couples make significant progress in a shorter period of time.

Benefits of Divorce Mediation

MEDIATION OFFERS SEVERAL ADVANTAGES OVER TRADITIONAL LITIGATION:
  • Greater control over outcomes and decisions

  • Reduced financial costs compared to court proceedings

  • Increased privacy and confidentiality

  • Faster resolution of disputes

  • Improved communication and cooperation

  • Reduced emotional stress

  • Better long-term co-parenting outcomes for families with children

Research consistently demonstrates that couples who reach their own agreements are often more satisfied with the outcome and more likely to follow through on the terms of those agreements.

Is Mediation Right for You?

Mediation is often most effective when both individuals are willing to engage respectfully in the process and work toward mutually acceptable solutions. An initial consultation can help determine whether mediation is an appropriate fit for your circumstances and goals.
